Game Night: Dots, stripes & primary colors, part 1

As promised, here is some eye candy from our Game Night birthday party this past weekend.

We were inspired by vintage board games – like Monopoly, Scrabble, Sorry, Clue – which drove our color story of saturated red, blue and yellow. We designed custom invitations with a fun twist: Each guest received a red polka-dot wrapped box filled with assorted game pieces (and the party details, of course).

The dessert table was the star – filled with old-fashioned candy as well as red velvet mini-cupcakes and multi-colored cupcake pops (both handmade by Carly). We also printed cupcake flags and drink stirrers with game- and sweets-related sayings.

Our central fabric choices (the red & white candy stripes and multi-colored dots, both by Moda) inspired the rest of the event design and made everything just pop with saturated color. We love that the color scheme is very versatile – it would work for children’s parties and carnival/circus themed events just as well as a vintage-game theme like this one.

Flag banners were sewn and hung across the room, adding to the festive feel and bringing the bright colors up to the ceiling.

Stay tuned for more photos and handmade details from this event!
